Oil and Gas Research and Design Institute

The research and development activities of Azerikimya are primarily conducted through the Oil and Gas Research and Design Institute (Neftqazelmitedqiqatlayihe), established on the basis of the company’s two previous institutes – the Scientific Research Institute and the Oil and Gas Project Institute – in accordance with the Decree issued by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on July 20, 2009, aimed at improving the structure of Azerikimya.
The Institute carries out geological and geophysical research, exploration, development, and production of discovered oil and gas structures and deposits, as well as various design works related to oil and gas processing. It also develops scientific solutions to improve economic and managerial processes in the oil industry, creates development concepts for oil and gas extraction, ensures environmental protection and ecological balance, and oversees the production, storage, and transportation of hydrocarbon products.
The Institute conducts large-scale research in the development and optimization of oil and gas fields, drilling and operation of wells, and the design of petrochemical and oil and gas processing facilities. It is equipped with 19 laboratories, 50 units, a geological fund, and a centralized printing house.
As of February 1, 2024, the Institute employs two ANAS associates, 9 doctors, and 90 PhD holders. Over the years, it has implemented more than 1,200 innovative projects, addressing complex scientific, design, and technical challenges in the development of oil fields and mining operations.
The Institute fulfills orders for both external organizations and the departments and enterprises of Azerikimya. Among its recent achievements is the preparation of engineering reports and the development and evaluation of parameters for installing the support block of the Karabakh oil field jacket in 2020.
